About Me

Hi, my name is Neela, and I'm an aspiring creative. I'm trying out all sorts of things right now including graphic design, photography, t-shirt design, web design, and anything else that grabs my attention. I created this blog in order to keep on track with my career path and keep my skills updated. So far, so good. :)

I'm Done with College!

And now...
I'm officially entering the job market. I've been told that it's important to make sure there isn't a gap in my resume between finishing school and my first job, so I've found a solution. How do I make this intermission in my life as productive as possible?
After looking at possible companies I could apply to (for advertising, art direction, graphic design, marketing, and anything creative), I’ve gathered all the requirements and skills that I need to work on to increase my chances. And that’s what I’m going to do.

My goals:
  1. Master Flash and Dreamweaver (and HTML)
  2. Make an online portfolio
  3. Learn about Quark Xpress and After Effects (since I don’t have the actual programs on my laptop)
  4. Continue my t-shirt designs (I love hand-painting t-shirts)
  5. Do some community service in India (we’re going there for a month in Feb)
  6. Finalize my portfolio book

I have the urge to say I don’t know how much of that I will actually complete, but after this time I’m never going to say that again!!
New Years resolution: check.

  2. I am with you on goal number 1 girl! May I say, from my experience, you can possibly scrap Quark Xpress - I first started with Quark 3 back in the day and as soon as Adobe Creative Suite came in, I haven't had to use it once! (around 7 years now...) Unless there is something I don't know... Could Quark be making a comeback??

  3. Oh wow that's interesting! In that case, I have more time to tackle the other programs! But I figured I should at least acquaint myself with Quark for the time being :)
